Five evidence layers
01

Question: wording and identity

02

Semantics: metric, dimension, rule

03

Query: source, filter, time

04

Result: value, chart, detail

05

Narrative: fact, inference, limitation

Evidence must lead from conclusion back to data

A statement about a regional decline combines measured values, a comparison method, and an interpretation of cause.

Offer progressive disclosure so readers can inspect evidence without putting every technical detail in the narrative.

Record the execution context first

Keep the original question, follow-up context, user identity, project, execution time, and data cutoff. Identical text can legitimately change by identity or date.

Restrict sensitive trace data to authorized reviewers. Traceability must not expand access.

Expose definitions without leaking controls

Show metric definition, dimensions, filters, comparison windows, and relevant business rules. SQL can be role-gated.

Confirm that security filtering was applied without revealing hidden fields, row values, or policy logic.

Separate fact, inference, and recommendation

Measured movement is a fact; an associated factor is a lead; a business cause often needs an event, rule, or experiment.

Display limitations next to the claim when data is missing, samples are small, or windows are incomplete.

Accept through independent reproduction

Ask a reviewer to reproduce key values from the answer evidence, then test access after permission revocation.

AskTable.ai query, chart, and semantic capabilities can be evaluated; citation granularity, snapshots, SQL visibility, and export audit need project verification.
